ABOUT US

Born in Accra, Ghana

What began as a hobby to while away time while seeking employment from home has since grown into a recognized crochet brand.  Dzini has received an incredible welcome from fans within Ghana and in other parts of the globe. Although Accra is our birthplace, a global presence is key.

Founder

Founded in August 2018 by Creative Director Nikitina Dzifa Sayeed-Yeboah

“…my earliest memory of my creative journey was in primary school class 3. I saw a kid in class reading a Pokemon comic book and wondered why the characters dont look like me or any of my friends in class. i tried reading the comic and couldn’t relate with it so I decided to start my own comic book. My sitting partner loved colouring so encouraged me to draw while she colored. To my surprise, kids in class loved my comic book. I later evolved to story writing bacause at that time I felt we were too grown to be ready storybooks with drawings in them.

I still drew on the side wile writing stories and found myself being the non official cartoonist for my secondary school years later”

“ I learnt how to crochet in basic school and have developed the passion sto create with my hands since then. I remember when I started there were positive feedbacks and a ‘but’… clients would tell me they wanted something different from what is on the crochet market. I realised there was definitely more growing for me and my brand”

In 2023 we realised the need to evolve from a bespoke clothing store to a ready-to-wear fashion brand. Years of understanding our community helped us realise our ‘why’

Our brand story:

Dzini is not just a fashion brand but a feeling. We believe you deserve rest and happiness;a gentle rebellion against the hustle culture. For the slow Sundays, the family celebrations, meals with friends and loved ones we create clothing for such off-duty moments inspired by the orange of the ripened pawpaw, the brown of the clay path underfoot, the blue labadi skies, the kelewele nights and the Ghanaian culture to live a life in colour.
